Your first purchase should be a book like How to make your own guitar by Melvyn Hiscock.


Read it cover to cover a few times.

It will show you 4 different ways to build a guitar and discuss many more.... And it still doesn't cover all the ways you could go about each task, but it will give the language and knowledge to ask the right questions

What he said! He builds a Bass in the book, but techniques are covered in other builds too, hightly recommended....
