I am pretty sure Barry could help you add gain to that amp if you wanted, but I suspect it will be quite nice just to put some pedals infront of and play around, sometimes simple and pure makes an amp easy to play.

No, I'm quite happy with my N5X, as a first build. I can get some great sounds with it (I have built an OCD clone, which suits it very well).

Thing is, I have it in a lovely 1974x style cab with a Greenback and it's crying out for a proper 18W build in there...

The 1974 was one of my first (decent) builds, that was before I had internet access so was not as good as it would be now, but it is the spitting image of an original and get envy from other guitarists whenever I take it out... it has a cheeky Marshall Logo on it too, so from afar you really could not tell the difference.
