So my friend gave me a Squier Affinity Strat which had been gathering dust in his garage for years. My plan is to make it as good as I can for as cheap as possible.
It was pretty beat up when I got it and chunks of the pickguard were missing. There were numerous dents in the body so I decided to "relic" it.
So far I've fitted a new pickguard and a Lace single coil in the neck (I only use neck pickups anyway) and replaced the tuners with some Fender ones I had lying around and am currently in the process of rewiring it.
The nut is a real pig though, I really want to replace it with a bone one but it's a really odd size so struggling to find one which will fit

I would have thought this would be the nominal size you're after (Axesrus do 2 or 3 different radii - this ones 10" which may or may not be the right one) http://www.axesrus.co.uk/Curved-42mm-Bone-Nut-10-Radius-p/42mmcbone10.htm If you click the Technical Specs tab, it gives the full dimensions including the string spacing. As long as the strings are not too close to the edge, it is not unusual to have to file off 0.5mm either side.
