I did look at a red velvet cake.  I think I've already got red gel dye in from making a spiderman cake for my neice's birthday.

I'll see how this loaf turns out - the initial proving didn't give much of rise in the dough though.  Maybe my yeast is past it's best. 

Yup, flaked almonds. Used a cocktail stick to paint melted chocolate on for the rest.

Absolutely! I wouldn't eat one- marzipan is weird chewy weirdness. Besides, they're far too cute for eating.

I do have a pinny and it actually got used yesterday (usually can't be arsed with it).  It's not like that one though.  It's a far more boring - black and white check and it only covers my thighs.  It's mainly for wiping my hands on so I'm not forever searching for a tea towel.

So do I usually but I'd just put a load of washing in and didn't want to have to do another straight away (I only have one pair jeans at the moment).

That looks awesome.  If I had more time and was in possession of swiss roll tins I'd have a go.  Not one I'd fancy doing without a trial run though.

Apparently they can.

Will need to pick up some missing ingredients on the way home tomorrow but looks like I'll be spending another night in the kitchen.
