At the end of the day these are made to be affordable entry level gretsch guitars so I wouldn't expect fancy knobs. These are lovely guitars for the money congratulations n welcome to the gretsch club.
Not that I've ever had one before, but it does feel like how I expected a Gretsch to feel. I quite like the original knobs but the previous owner changed them for metal G ones and the switch tip for a chrome one off his Electromatic which he had to glue on and then obviously couldn't remove to put back on his other guitar when he decided to sell. Oops.
I have played to few of the different models of streamliners and the pickups sounded great n especially for the money. But Tbh I'm not massive believer in all the talk about changing pickups and all that crap. Play in guitar well and through a good amp and you should be fine.
Paul (Marlin) has given me great advice too. .
Cheers
Mark.
I find the Streamliner to be one of the more distinctive sounds in my stable, and I'm genuinely interested to hear others' thoughts on what they sound like. I'm not particularly interested in "for the money" caveats either.
And of course plenty of good amps and good players sound completely different to each other, so I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from there?
your welcome mate. Marlin is a fellow gretsch fan and he has a few different models. I think these streamliners will give the electromatics a run for thier money. As the electromatics are now creeping to the towards 2nd hand prices on a good proline if you look around. 10 out of 10 for the streamliners overall and the really do look the part.
I mentioned getting one of these a few months ago and didn't honestly think I would raise the funds. But sold various bits and bobs ! .and had a look around and nothing else was calling me.....
they are great
