gretsch streamliner G2622T ordered

What's Hot
Gonna be a long week!
finally bit the bullet and ordered one in Torino Green.
Pmt Leeds have price matched and will collect it next Saturday morning.
Will be ditching the horrible tone/volume knobs. Why they don't come in chrome to match bigsby and hardware I don't know. .
Will update when arrives :-)

    Nice guitar! :)

Got to agree with you about the knobs, they do spoil the appearance somewhat.

Chrome ones will look much better.

At the end of the day these are made to be affordable entry level gretsch guitars so I wouldn't expect fancy knobs. These are lovely guitars for the money congratulations n welcome to the gretsch club.

I've been playing one of the single cut hollow ones for a little while, can't remember the model number, in a particularly nice sparkly red. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts, particularly on the pickups.

Not that I've ever had one before, but it does feel like how I expected a Gretsch to feel. I quite like the original knobs but the previous owner changed them for metal G ones and the switch tip for a chrome one off his Electromatic which he had to glue on and then obviously couldn't remove to put back on his other guitar when he decided to sell. Oops.

And I also thought they were made in China but it's actually Indonesia, for whatever that's worth.

I have played to few of the different models of streamliners and the pickups sounded great n especially for the money. But Tbh I'm not massive believer in all the talk about changing pickups and all that crap. Play in guitar well and through a good amp and you should be fine.

  • Nice to hear musicman. I try and always give a guitar time to see what works and doesn't for me. I already have an Epi swingster with the chet atkins style bigsby which is great but it made me want a proper Gretsch. Call me shallow, but it's the first brand new guitar I have ever bought. And will give it a thorough going over before I leave the shop happy. . Thanks for all the comments and realise it's not been out long... and not many reviews, other than industry/magazine stuff.
Paul (Marlin) has given me great advice too. .
    Cheers

I half-agree with you on this. Yes there is a lot of time and money spent on chasing imperceptible gains when it comes to pickups. Perhaps I should have said "I'd be interested to hear what you think of the sound", although the majority of the sound of an electric guitar is down to its pickups. And because the Streamliners have different pickups to anything else in the Gretsch stable, I think considering the pickups is a valid pastime.

I find the Streamliner to be one of the more distinctive sounds in my stable, and I'm genuinely interested to hear others' thoughts on what they sound like. I'm not particularly interested in "for the money" caveats either.

And of course plenty of good amps and good players sound completely different to each other, so I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from there?

your welcome mate. Marlin is a fellow gretsch fan and he has a few different models. I think these streamliners will give the electromatics a run for thier money. As the electromatics are now creeping to the towards 2nd hand prices on a good proline if you look around. 10 out of 10 for the streamliners overall and the really do look the part.

  • I was tempted to buy a second hand Epiphone Casino today. 'Nearly new' with hard case £360. But I reckon I would prefer this Gretsch.

  • It's selling for £379 at my local guitar store. Gotta be worth it just to get into the Gretsch owners club!
