Looks pretty damn good, but sounds fairly average.

I'm kinda surprised that they didn't offer it in the SE series though, might sell a few more that way and raise the sales of the others at the same time too.

  • Looks nice

    But it's not a 6505

I liked it but it reminded me of the Hughes and Kettner Warp - I thought about getting one (H&K)  until I a good gigging amp would remove the need for pedals to help out and have 3 channels - if this amp had a 3rd channel with crunch sounds as well as high gain or at least a solo boost on the high gain channel it would be a lot more useable.

    They should stick to guitars.

Looks nice though! But in all seriousness, it just sounded very generic which Paul must like because some of his guitars sound so too

His guitars might not be everyones cup of tea, but of all the guitars i've had over the years (and I've had loads), my CU22 is the perfect gigging guitar.

  • +1 about cu22 but change the pickups.

  • Only if it's a Dragon II model. If it's got Dragon 1s, or comes loaded with the newer 57/08's or 59/09s then it'll be more than fine as is. :)

Mine is an older one, 1998, so I believe has Dragons in. It's a great gigging guitar, fantastic tuning stability, light, looks good, and cleans up brilliantly with the volume knob.

  • I've had a couple like that, awesome things indeed. And as you say, they're pretty much the perfect gigging guitar!

  • I didn't rate the 57/08's either. Not tried the Dragon I's though!

I like his guitars, had loads over the years mostly CE's and currently have a 91 EG4, they play great and really work well for me but not stock, they need a pickup change as their either too polite or hi-fi sounding a bit like the amps tone above to my ears.

  • will be interesting to see if Mark tremonti tours with one of these instead of his trusted setup

I've seen him use a pair of Mesa recs and fender twin reverb reissue (his usual) and a Bognor Uberschall.

Last time, however, I swear I saw a Two Rock.  Which was flubby, muddy, inarticulate for big chords and generally shitty sounding.  Solos sounded a bit weird, too compressed.  I hope he's moved away from that, now... On the latest AB album, some of it does sound like it might be the two rock, especially the lower gain solos.  Not a fan myself, but then again, it's his music.
