5pdt foot switch?

What's Hot

after toying with the idea of a H9 to play with the pre/post routing option I decided to just build a switching pedal that could do the job for me...

problem is its going to need a 5pdt switch to make it work.

I could do it with a toggle, but would prefer to do it with a footswitch.

any ideas where I could find one?

I've done a quick google scan, but tend to find users on here more informative !!

cheers Y'All

    * for use with a line 6 M5

I'll add my circuit drawings at somepoint too

Having never seen a 5pdt switch, I'd assume you need to do it with something simpler and some relays?

back to the drawing board then :P

You can get six pole ones if that will fit and just ignore the sixth pole...
Or did I miss something obvious?

EDIT: OK, the obvious thing was that you want a foot switch and those all seem to be toggle :(

so original plan was 5poles on one switch

now thinking a dpdt foot switch - to switch between 2 LEDS and power relay coils
    plus

    1 4dpt relay or 2 x dpdt

NEXT QUESTION - decent, reliable board mountable relays anyone?

BT351 style relays are what I used in my remote switching stuff, never had one fail.

But I'm not 100% sure you need 5PDT for what you're trying to do - can you elaborate?

Just get a G2, and do the job properly. :)

If nothing else, a 5PDT is likely to be 5/3 times more unreliable than a 3PDT - worse if your switching system relies on more than one pole working at the same time (which it will if any of the switching positions are in series in the circuit).

Use relays, optos or electronic switching.

    Thems my ideas

Can't afford a g2, hence the building my own thing route ;)

    I think I was right.

You actually need to switch 4 things, because you should only ever switch outputs.

    For the pre/post switch:

    1) Send_footswitch
    2) Out_1
    3) Out_2
    4) The LED

    1) is either In_1 or In_2
    2) is either Return_footswitch or In_1
    3) is either In_2 or Return_footswitch
    4) is LED_1 or LED_2

The On/Off footswitch needs 3 poles:

    1) Send_M5
    2) Return_footswitch
    3) LED

    1) is either ground or Send_footswitch (ie from the pre/post footswitch pole 1)
    2) is either Send_footswitch or Return_M5
    3) is nothing or connected

So one 4PDT and one 3PDT. Both readily available in footswitch format.

This looks like what you need, but with a foot switch: http://www.brightonion.co.uk/shifter-switch-patchbox/

ahh yeah that makes it easier!

    Thanks everyone :)
