Tele volume control has no effect

I rewired an old Tele style guitar for a friend as the original switch was faulty and the pots were locked solid. It has one single coil and a humbucker (seymour duncan), so I wired it like this:


Everything works fine, except the volume control has no effect, so I changed it - but the replacement volume pot does nothing as well. Personally I don't see the problem with a guitar being locked in full volume position :-) but as it isn't mine I'd like to fix it.

Does the wiring diagram look ok?

Any clues about what might cause this behaviour?

Are you sure the right-most tab of the volume pot is soldered to the case fully?

The joint looked fine, but I tested it and it wasn't. Guitar now works perfectly. Many thanks for saving me hours of re-checking.
