A nothing else is shifting I am reluctantly testing the waters with this little gem.

1981 ish Made in Japan, plays and sounds great, I have flipped the neck magnet and get a great 'greeny' tone in the middle position. Its easily reversed if it doesnt suit you though.
The top has aged really nicely and has tons of checking and play wear, I doubted its originality at 1st, assuming it had been relic'd, but talking with the previous owner, @monoamine (a man who knows his MIJ stuff) have come to the conclusion it is natural wear and tear, and if that is not the case then it is the best ageing job I have ever seen in all my years!
Interestingly the top is Mahogany and not Maple as would be expected.
I have also managed to get hold of an early 80's stenciled Burny case, at great expense, which finishes off the whole thing nicely.
Said i would never sell this and have turned down very decent offers from people visiting me to buy other guitars, but I am trying to downsize the collection so here it is for sale.

page from burny catalogue of the period:

£800 no trades thanks.   not sure about sending this one so for now I will say collection only

    Wowsers!
     so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    Don't sell it.  You'll regret that one going.  These Japanese Burny LP's are sensational.

    I wish it were mine!!

    Having owned several Tokai's over the years I can honestly say that they are very much in the same ballpark, I think they were even made at the Tokai plant in the late 70's. The main difference between them is the amount that are available outside of Japan it seems to me.

    I'd put this up there with old and new Tokais. Very special mellow sound due to the all mahog body. I'd say try and keep her.... you won't find another I can guarantee it

    as the previous owner, who did eventually let it go, misguidedly it has to be said, I would agree with @JookyChap ;
    i always loved the P90's personally.

    That said, it will still be a stonking guitar after Steve has worked on it.

    No doubt on that, but replacing P90s just makes me sad ...
