What's Hot
A relatively little seen acronym: its a New Work Bench Day :)    :)     :)

Those of you who have followed any of my threads will be well familiar with the B&D Workmate and back patio.

Well.....I've regained possession of a small strip of the cellar from MrsAndyjr1515's clutches and just bought a proper WORKBENCH!!!!!!!  Yes - one I can use even when it's raining!!!!!!

    Nicely done!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I may be able to actually use a plane without the wood and bench taking multiple tours round the garden  :))    I bet you always wondered why my component shapes were a little bit odd unconventional....

It's reet posh, @Sporky    I'm really chuffed with it.  Sorting out some dust extraction tomorrow, too :)

It is...just like IKEA.....buy it in the morning and spend all afternoon and evening trying to put it all together  :))

Well pleased with it, though.  Wasn't much more than the Axminster either and had a couple of things I particularly liked - with the VERY limited space I've got, being able to easily swop the clamps from left to right - at the front and the ends - was a big swing in its favour.

Mine's two layers of 18mm MDF on a pine framework, screwed into the alcove of the garage. >:D<

(but if we're not careful, we'll be soon drifting into Monty Python territory).

Anyway, I'm chuffed to bits with the Sjoberg, even if it has been assembled at the bottom of a lake in a shoebox with wife, granny, seventeen of the next-door neighbour's children and a rabid dog for company....

  • Just think how many guitar bodies you could make out of all that wood ;)

    Looks nice, very solid.

Very nice, I also have a Sjobergs.
Make sure you give it a bit of oil from time to time- it will last a lifetime.
I use 50/50 mix of mineral turpentine and boiled linseed oil- I rang Sjobergs and asked them and this is what they recommended.

That looks a nice bench and a very nice setup.  Bigger than the space I have available....and much neater and more organised than I have the capability of  :))

I spent a LOT of time working out the configuration of where to put the tools.

I have another wall 'o tools on the other side of the workshop as well.
I hate having to find things in drawers.

I spent a lot of my professional life training and coaching teams how to do 5S and similar techniques ... In many cases with staggering results. On a personal level, I know it works, I know how it works, I know how much more efficient I would be using it.....but I'm rubbish at actually doing it!

Your workmate-era guitars will obviously be worth a lot more in years to come - they lost a lot of mojo when you moved to the workbench factory.

    ;)
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.
