Fluff's bungled it...

I'm normally pretty much in favour of Fluff's channel, even though he does often make everything sound the same (it's a good sound, so he gets away with it...). However, his latest "Cool Gear Alert" is a bit of a misfire...

Now, there were originally loads of comments - including mine - asking why he, a guy who records clips for everything, didn't provide any clips of the "reduced noise floor" he kept talking about (particularly regarding the power cable). His response?

Disable all the comments.

Regardless of the veracity of the claim, this doesn't strike me as the kind of thing that maintains a healthy fan base, particularly when it comes across as a paid product spot.

It's a shame, because I normally really like his videos

Well, I'm open-minded on the subject. I'm perfectly willing to believe that the power supplies in all of his amps are shit (given that's the only situation in which a power cable could possibly, maybe help as far as I know), but...evidence.

For a guy whose living relies on making credible reviews of gear, this is a serious misstep.

His channel was a million miles better BEFORE he went full time "youtuber" on it. Since then its been pretty desperate and product placement heavy

I actually think the transition's been fairly decent - certainly a lot better than many. See Glenn Fricker's "History of Distortion" which was basically a 5-video plug for BIAS FX, for how not to do it...he learned the hard way that honesty is the best policy when it comes to product placement. He did manage to recover quite well from it by putting his hands up; that's not what Fluff's done here, though. By silently disabling the comments on the video, he's gone completely in the other direction.

That's sad.
