Having a squad, and having a team are two different things.

There was no team spirit, ethos, all-for-one (etc) spirit.  

Hodgson pissing off at the end was inexcusable.  If he's built a team, then he should be out there with them, win or lose.  But also if it's a team, the team members celebrate together when things go well, and support each other when things go badly.  

At the end of the game, they were all there, alone, as individuals sat on the pitch.  They may have been distraught individually, but that's when a real team comes together to support each other in whatever way is possible.  Just being there, being close is support.  

It wasn't a team.

But I fully agree, there was no team because there was no manager.

We enough enough quality players to do well .. maybe not win a competition. We have poor leadership from the FA and poor management. I bet the German team manager could weld them into an effective unit and win games.

Hodgson was always not of international manager quality. Glad Iceland showed him up

I love Iceland and don't begrudge them a bit. I walked past their national stadium  in Reykjavik and It's not much bigger than Yeovil Town's. They've done brilliantly considering how tiny their population is and lessons can be learned from their football association and a lot of respect given to their coaches.

I really do think the England camp took them for granted. Yes the country is tiny, but the football team proved they were no mugs during qualification. Clive Tyldsley made the ridiculous comparison to when England were temporarily behind against San Marino. Iceland are alot lot better than that.

Had the match paused and have just finished watching it.

Best team won.

What a lacklustre lack of ability from a team of highly paid 'sports' men. How do any of them justify their wages if they are totally unable to play as a team or even get close to a goal.  Hodgson has fallen on his sword, but the 'team' was rubbish.
