It's a filler rather than a Polish and should sort the paint out! Top it off with some cheap wax from halfords and you should be good to go!
Has the paint gone a pinky colour or is it still red?
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

I use Harley Wax on the Lotus, very impressed with the results, but it's very expensive at £22 a tin.
The easiest car polish I've ever used which gave a good finish, was BMW's own. It was like a clear liquid, you could only buy it from BMW dealers, but it wasn't too dear.
EDIT: It's now £22 a tin, so maybe not!

Never mind a clay bar, I bought one, and found that vinegar was just as good.
Just remembered that Turtle Wax is pretty good polish, but it does leave white powder in your crevices.
