Pickup repair

What's Hot
I've got a MIM Tele bridge pickup where the wire has broken 1/4" outside of the coil, so I'm hoping its repairable. What's the best way to remove the lacquer from the wire so that I can solder the two ends?

We use very fine wet and dry paper ... but you are best to use a little bit of thicker wire to wrap both ends around to make a splice ... soldiering such fine wire is a hit and miss process. If it is the finish end of the coil simply take off a turn ... if it is the start end you may need a rewind if you can't solder the ends effectively.

Thanks Ash. The extra piece of wire trick worked well, once I'd put a slip,of white paper underneath so that I could see what I was doing.
