Potentially been ripped off!

Hi guys,

Just hoping for a bit of advice and help really. I recently purchased a sans amp pedal from a seller on gumtree however after almost a week I still haven't received it and he hasn't responded to any emails or text messages.

This morning I went to get a PayPal refund and only now have I realised that I used PPG in error. Is there any way around this!?

Maybe I'm just thinking the worst but I worry that he say that it was PPG and figured that there would be no way of obtaining a refund so never bothered to send the pedal.

I have his name and personal email address and mobile number but that's all.

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Sorry, but there's no protection at all with Pay Pal Gift. It's like giving cash to someone you've never met.

Try phoning him? If he answers you'll soon be able to judge whether he's had a genuine problem that's delayed the despatch or if he just waffles pathetic excuses. If he's a fraudster the PPG money's gone gone gone

I know and I feel so stupid as it wasn't intention to use the gift feature!

Bummer - have they anything else for sale on Gumtree right now? Also, on Gumtree it tells you how long a person has been trading, that can be a good sign of genuine sellers.

So I managed to get through to him and he made some very long winded excuse and said that he was in fact on the way to the post office now. I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as that's just the kind of good natured trusting fool I am :P
