What's Hot
SporkySporky Frets: 29194
A month or so ago, Lady BMcH, young Sprocket, and I went to see Lady BMcH's venerable elders; this involved the Dartford crossing, twice.

What I forgot was that when I prepaid for a load of crossings that was on the last hire car that work gave me.

What I then forgot was to pay for the crossings in time, and I was an hour late phoning in to pay it when I finally did remember.

So instead of a fiver for two crossings, because they send the notices for each direction out 10 days apart, it's £90.

£2.50 for the first crossing, plus a £25 admin fee from the hire car company, and £2.50 for the second crossing, plus a £35 fine, plus another £25 admin fee.

Ouchies. And to make it worse it's entirely my own fault. Feel free to mock me.

    Twat!

Actually, I got caught when I registered my new car. I put the wrong registration number on the system, and despite having mailed them, they ignored the e-mail. I had to pay £2.25 instead of the usual £1.76. I wasn't about to argue.

Sounds like the feeling when you accidentally enter the congestion charge zone.

I had a similar incident recently.

Paid for a full day in the pay and display car park by the station, I was in a rush at 6.30am so didn't notice that of the £3 I put in that 10p was rejected. I happily put the ticket on the windscreen. I got back at 6pm to find a £25 parking ticket as my £2.90 had expired at 11am !

I also lost my prescription sunglasses on the Metrolink too that day.

My wife did it recently, forgot to pay until she got the fine. Anyway, I have a toll story for you...

I was working in Newcastle, Darlington etc and had a hotel in Washington. I drove through the tunnel to Newcastle and being paranoid held my Company Credit card in my teeth the whole way. Got to the booths and chose the left one as the queue was less. Drove up to the machine and no credit card slot. ABout 20000 geordies start using their horns.

So I'm yelling for help into the microphone and the guy comes up and says yes no problem just drive into the carpark across all the toll booths. Before I could say WTF he went 3 2 1 go. I didnt live up to my name and got into the car park and paid with my card. I asked him why no cards it is the 21st century. He said nothing but smiled, took payment and said good luck on your way back. BTW Newcastle branch gave me a doohicky to get me through and told me to leave it at Washington and they would retrieve it.
