Nitro advice

i bought the lovely oiled Tele body from @alnico and have finally got round to ordering a slim AllParts maple neck. I've tried using Vintage Amber nitro before and it'll be far too yellow for this.

I want something that will just fade the brand new whiteness of a maple neck slightly.

Will a rattle can of clear gloss nitro from, for example, NorthWest Guitars do that? Or would it need to be tinted? Or does the clear stuff give you a darker tint the more coats you put on anyway?

The colour does darken the more you spray so I recommend sealing with clear gloss, applying the tint until you have the desired colour, then more clear to build up finish thickness

I've just finished a maple fender neck after a refret and i did amber with a bit of brown and came out great.
Some ambers are different, because i used a stewmac amber tint i have to put brown in.

I only used the tint after a light clear coat first because it will get too dark as Steve said.

I will say though that i'm spraying with a gun so it's probably different to cans.

My tints do have an element of brown as amber is indeed too yellow.

I've been adding up to half and half with the stewmac tint, horrible on its own. I did alot of messing around with it, especially the fender necks, they all look so different.
