THR10C - gain boost using compressor?

So, I recently tried a THR10C and was really impressed with the depth and clarity of the clean tones. I did find myself wishing it had just a little more gain available for overdriven tones, and was wondering if it was possible to use the internal compressor as a boost, with sustain set to minimum. Anyone tried this?
