Music managers in the early day - what a bunch of con men!

Just watching the interesting 10cc documentary on iPlayer. They signed with Jonathan King and had a very successful album with 'sheet music'. They were all broke though - their record deal gave them just 4%!!!!!!! Just imagine if for your wages, 96% was taken before you got it. Outrageous deals that people signed in those days. Bastard paedo King must have been rolling in money from people he fleeced.

I remember the same with the Bay City Rollers, they made millions but their manager took the lot and hid it in accounts that were never found. Greedy evil bastard!

The story of Badfinger is truly tragic, one seriously bent manager and two suicides. "No Matter What" and "Come And Get It" are near-perfect songs.

Didn't Queen get fleeced by their first Manager as well?

Not just in them days either. Manufactured pop acts are a busness model that makes someone very rich, rarely the artists though. The early rock and Roll singers were all 'in a stable' too! Look up Larry Parnes.
Remember it's the 'music business' and the largest word is business.

Tam Paton. He's a type of personality that's always been interested in the pop business, principally for the easy access to good looking kids.

Making music is piss easy, making money out of it is what demands skill.
