Could be my speakers but I can't hear the bass guitar?     or I can hear the occasional held note but he looks to be playing more than that.

The others sound like they are good players but the drum heavy mix is making it hard to like it although they are playing some interesting parts.

I don't like what they've done with the track at all, it's lost all the swing and funkiness of the original and turned into a mess.  The girl has a good voice.

Can't say I like it, but then covering Bowie is nearly always a bad idea.

    IMHO etc etc

The verses remind me of Bauhaus, which is no bad thing, although as noted the drums are too high.  The choruses are less interesting/distinctive and also are dragging, feels like the song slows down and loses energy.  File under "Wouldn't have bothered" I'm afraid.

Its a bit 'trying to hard' and I would agree with the style over substance. Not Babylon Zoo bad, but not far off.

I really like the verses but the choruses lose all of the power

She's a bit of a princess, but that's not going to kill her career, is it. I thought is pretty decent for what it is. Not really hitting it out the park in the originality stakes, but she's pretty talented and pretty attractive too... which has never been much of a help in the music buiness.

Attitude over aptitude. Can't say I feel what they are doing as being honest in the slightest. I would go as far as to say it's pretentious.

Sorry....agree with most of the above, not a great version at all I'm afraid. Good on them to try doing something very different to the original, but it just doesn't seem to work for me. Again, I can't hear any bass which I don't think helps the song swing along.

It seems an obvious tune for a really cheese pop make over. Or complete deconstruction but this doesn't manage that.

About that really ^ although not as whole hog post punk goth as Savages.

I walked past Primark the other day and they had girl's t shirts in the window with big Bowie logos and it seemed a bit incongruous and this is a bit similar to me. But, y'know, I'm so far from the audience for this - my earlier listening today has been Lee Scratch Perry and Richard Thompson and even that seemed a bit rowdy.

I'm really sorry. That takes all of the fun,  the groove and the energy out of that song. It's called 'Let's Dance' for a reason.

Bass parts and the mix in general worked fine here for me (through a proper hi-fi set-up out of my soundcard and into decent Sony cans though), and fair play to the guitar guy for not trying to copy Niles and Stevie. I'd have liked at least one chorus done with the proper choppy chords though (3rd rotation would be my choice), reckon that would have made it more of a dramatic tribute. Really accented the "put on your red shoes" bit.

Not really my bag, but enjoyable enough. She has a good voice for sure.

    That's a record I'd like to hear.

LOL. I found the RT concert he did for the closure of the BBC centre on YouTube and watched that for the 10th time.  I remember when it was originally broadcast someone on here saying his lead work was standard blues rock clichés. This is somewhere in my head when I watch it but the person who said that either wasn't listening to it properly or has a very odd idea of what blues rock clichés sound like.
