Valve rattle or similar noise on Supersonic 22

Hey up,

I've fairly recently bought myself a Fender Supersonic 22 combo which is a cracking amp but there is some noise coming, I think, from the valves.  They sound like they might be vibrating in their sockets possibly.  There is a distinct rattle noise on when playing certain notes.

I'm aware that this is not a terribly good description of the noise but hopefully you can understand what I mean.

Might this be something that could be sorted with some rubber o-rings or is it likely to be more than that (valve replacement maybe)?  Any ideas how I look further into it to try to pin down the source of the noise?

I have the same problem with a pair of JJ 6L6s - and I had it too with some JJ 6V6s. I think it's rattling filaments, but I'd be interested to hear what the experts have to say.

It was that thread that pointed me at the rubber o-rings.  Just not sure that my issue is the same or not and wondered if anyone knew any more or of any specific problems with the SS22

Worth trying out those O rings seeing as they're so cheap. I'm going to order a load right now...

Try removing the metal cage which is supposed to protect the power valves...that's what was rattling on mine.

I thought I had a problem with a rattling cab one time - I can't remember which amp it was.  Turned out it was some loose change rattling on my desk.

you can prod the valves with a plastic pen or whatever to see if you can damp the ratting - this is how to find the offending one if it is the valves
