Satin paint finish

Looking at my parts caster build, I fancy a satin finish in white with a black scratch plate similar to the billy corgan/Jim root strat. 

Would the paint be satin or is it the way you finish off the guitar that makes it satin?

Easiest way is to buy satin paint.
There is a technique were you do a satin type finish using gloss nitro but it isn't for beginners.

are you going to use rattle cans or do you have access to a compressor?

Prob rattle cans but a friend of mine is a professional paint sprayer so I may send it uo to him...

In the past I've put colour on and simply shot satin or even matt nitro over the top.

You can get paint mixed into rattle cans or for the spray gun that is Satin out of the nozzle

Satin is usually done by rubbing down a gloss finish with very a fine grain wet and dry. A bit of washing up liquid in a bowl of warm water, put in the paper and then rub away (in straight lines using a sanding block).

Also great for on the back of lacquered necks. Keeps a matte sheen but without the stickiness.
