Epiphone Les Paul pickup ring issue.

I have a 2004 Epiphone Les Paul Studio & the neck pickup ring sits at an angle to the strings. Because of this, the pickup sits higher at the neck & lower towards the bridge & short of jamming a bit of foam underneath, I can't get it level.
Would this be normal, or has the ring on my guitar possibly been changed at some point?
