Star Wars for me. So influential and iconic. As also said above, I can't think of a bad Bond opening.

I can. The one where Roger Moore drops Blofelt down a chimney. That was a truly shite opening

  • Top gun? just for the music. Also one that sticks in the mind is 'rain man'. Nice lambos. Although that scene seems to have nothing to do with the rest of the film whatsoever.

Withnail and I.....Whiter Shade of pale King Curtis sax playing and I looks and feels like I did everyday in the 80s and 90s

+1 for saving Ryan's privates. For a film course, Robert Altmans The Player is a good one - 7 odd minutes of tracking shot without an edit.

Four weddings is also a great opening scene.

Dare I also suggest Raiders of the lost Ark? And the Bond opening sequences are a mini-genre of their own.

I just watched Deadpool, great opening scene, and pretty funny throughout. Other than that, probably Trainspotting or Withnail and I cause I love the music.

    Cheers fellas.

Lots to think about there - I'd probably go with Bladerunner, because of the whole atmos, including the soundtrack.

We'll need to watch a lot of films before the boy starts college next month..... Tough work! ;-)
