I'll be raising a glass to The Waco Kid tonight :-(

This, Blazing Saddles is one of 3 or so films I never, ever tire of watching. The Waco Kids passing is tragic news

So few of the Saddles cast are alive now. Still my favourite film ever. My grandfather introduced it to me when I was a kid and it's quite a special film in that it operates on so many levels. As I grew up, so I understood more of the jokes. Not many films have that ability to become more as you become more. It's as close to perfect in terms of script, comedy, and casting. Everyone from Cleavon Little to Wilder to Harvey Korman.

    RIP Gene.

I bought Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein and watched them with my son a while back. It surprised me how much I'd forgotten about them but although they're very nonPC they're both incredibly funny films and have aged really well. Glad to see my son was laughing like a drain too.

Silver Streak was one of the half-dozen movies we watched on a cycle as kids. Sad he's dead but not too shocking - (OK, a bit shocking...I thought he had died twenty years ago).

Could you get away with Blazing Saddles if it were made today?
    I somehow think not.
    RIP Wacco Kid

Nope. It grates a bit hearing the n word used so often tbh. Still funny otherwise though. Makes me wonder how Mel Brooks ended up making utter crap like Spaceballs when he'd made such great films in the past.

Used to watch his films over and over, stir crazy being my favourite. Not that surprising since he was 83, but still sad.
I've just put willy wonka on and my 5 year old son shouted "I know that!" and ran to sit down and watch while humming the theme.

Some times genius needs its own benchmark.
