Niggly user interface issue

OK, I've put up with it for long enough, years even, but I can't keep quiet no longer...
PLEASE fix it so that when using the topic area list on the left of the site, you can click the whole box - not JUST the text.
The UI already senses the mouseover by highlighting the box - which is nice - but a click there does nothing. Until you move the mouse over to the box's text and click that.
