Anyone have any 3/8" wooden dowels?

I'm more of a metric man nowadays and can't get these things in France. I don't really want a bag of 100 of them from ebay, so if anyone's got a couple spare, I'd be very happy to reward you for sticking them in an envelope and putting them in the post to me :-) Thanks all!

What will you use them for? Last time I needed a special size I made my own. Buy a metre of slightly larger dowel, put a section in the drill chuck. Stick some sand paper onto a piece of wood, and hold it against the dowel while its rotating.

Now that sounds like a good idea! i should be able to get 10mm easily, so I can try it with this method. Thanks :-)

I'm pleased about that. Since making the suggestion I've been worried that you wouldn't be able to hold the dowel steady in the chuck.

Thick gloves and sandpaper. The wood was oak too, so I think, that helped.

Please don't wear gloves whist using powered rotating tools. If the glove catches you are fucked.

It was only a cordless drill on slow setting, so no real danger me thinks :-) Thanks Mum ;-)

Drill a3/8th hole in a piece of steel and hammer slightly larger dowel or square timber with the ends tapered. Mind your fingers. This is how I made some oak dowels to block off some predrilled trem holes that didn't match my bridge
