@colourofsound - hi mate, thanks for the offer - it's always worth a try ! But not for me at the moment Im afraid...

I'm really fond of the El Cap; I still find the Sound-on-sound feature to be completely unique to this pedal.

I'm currently trialling a Boss ES-5 at the moment, and so I'm looking at midi based pedals. Got a Nemesis and H9 incoming, so this might be surplus. Id be very happy to keep it...

... And very happy to receive an offer ;)

  • @Wazmeister do yourself a favour and keep the El Cap to at least try against the H9 and the Nemesis. The Nemesis doesn't get close, IMO and I'd be surprised if the H9 does either. I know the Timeline certainly doesn't.

Just my opinion of course, but with the recent price hike, I'd hate to see you want one again (like I did) and have to pay over the odds for it.

  • you could always loan it to me waz :-)

    I've never tried a strymon
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

If you love your tape delays you should hold onto your Capistan. I went through the same process myself and ended up keeping both pedals. The H9 has decent tape delay emulations, but no matter how much time I spent tweaking them I could not get them to sound as good. The Capistan has a specific way of lowering the amplitude of repeats until they blend into the initial sound that the H9 just can't match. The H9 sounds better for reverbs to my ears than anything Strymon, though, which is why I've kept it.

  • I do take it all on board guys, as I'm actually on my 3rd El Cap !

The verbs and delays on the FX8/AX8 are superb. Like, really superb.

So, my thinking is to have a board which mirrors the FX8/AX8 (well, as close to...) and yet offers more weird and creative options maybe.

Hence, the H9, which I have owned before and wasn't massively impressed with. But now, I'm more of a tweaker since the Fractal stuff, and I'm keen to try the midi aspects with the Boss ES-5.
