So I managed to glean that it is in fact a 112 which is what I'd presumed. Will go and take a look tomorrow, for £100 with a reasonable amp as long as it's not got any obvious flaws it seems a good place to start my journey :)

Serial number suggests about ten years old. Anything I should be on the lookout for as a less than experienced player?

  • That is an absolute bargain. Just grab a pair of over the ear headphones for less than £50 and you'll be in heaven. Don't overthink any of this - this forum is full of armchair experts who believe that incremental differences in terms of their gear or "what is best" will positively affect their playing. Which, I can tell you from experience, it doesn't.

What a new player like you needs is decent equipment and to rock your socks off without giving a damn how much it cost or what other people think.

If you were even vaguely near me I'd offer to come along with you - and if it needed a bit of a setup to get you going then I'd get that sorted too. Best advice I can give you is before you go look at it be prepared to walk if you aren't 100% happy - there are many more out there.

You're nowhere near me either and i would help if i could.

THE best advice i can give you IF you decide to buy new or used from a shop, is speak to Doug at Coda Music or John at Peach guitars. You just can't go wrong with either of them at almost any budget. End of.

Thanks guys. You're too kind. My gut tells me that this is someone who bought it as a starter kit, lost interest rapidly and consigned it to a cupboard for 10 years.

My theory was strengthened when when I asked for a photo of the serial number on the back of the headstock and received back a photo showing 'PAC 112J' lol =)

Just waiting to arrange viewing/collection ao
will post back here when I buy (or not!)

    Enjoy.

My 1st guitar was not as good as the one you are looking at.

So I think I've won this weeks edition of bargain hunt. Slightly beaten up Squier Affinity Strat - £20!

Now spend the saved money on taking it to a proper Tech and have a proper full set up done inc level frets and a new, decent nut fitted etc.

It will transform it into a really nice playing guitar.

Things moved on pretty quickly, I bought an Ibanez on here earlier :joy:

The Squier will still be a fun project though :)

  • Where in Bristol do you live? I'm in Redland and am more than happy to meet up and troubleshoot any issues you are having. Any excuse to get out on me bike!
