Price check on guitar I'm thinking of putting on £Guitar forum

What's Hot

Hello,

Just thought I should check what to expect to get for a particular guitar I have which is just not getting played enough (thanks to my Johnny Marr Jag and my Jazzmaster).

It's a Gretsch Electromatic G5441T Doublejet (red) with TV Jones Powertrons and a better pickup switch fitted. In really good nick, recently given the once over by a guitar tech, would be selling with soft padded gig bag and strap.

How much should I expect to get for this?

    Hmmm... what kind of peanuts?

I'm only seeing new ones. Prices for those seem to be between £479 and £507 in the UK.

You should be looking at around £350 I would have thought - around 2/3rds of the new price - depending on condition

although it's a fickle market 2nd hand guitars etc

That's what I was thinking (well £375 at a push).

Did you upgrade the pups yourself?

You would probably get more money putting the original pickups back in and selling the guitar and TV Jones' separately.

Yes, but I sold on the stock pups....balls. I should maybe try and get a spare set of the stock pups and refit them, then.

Ok , I wouldn't worry about it in that case. It's just sometimes hard to persuade buyers to pay extra for upgrades you have made.

The TV jones set is a great upgrade I would ask £375 :)

  • You'll do well to get 325.
The upgrades will generally not add any value.
