Doesn't the Jackson come with a FR1000 Floyd Rose? Why the change to the Gotoh?
The Jackson PRO comes with the FR1000.

Mine came with the FR special which should be renamed the 'Blue Peter Special'.

It's as bad as any £19.99 ebay POS.
The Gotoh is essential, this is unuseable.

String clamps will not hold string if you go up on the tremolo arm, they just let go no matter how tight or not you do them up.
The Dead Spot between up and down is the width of the River thames - it won't stay in tune.
The fine tuners are made of milk bottle tops and the threads are just shite.
The arm tension thread / collar is shite.
The block and saddles are zinc - it sounds shite.

    Yeah that's it i think.
If anyone would like this POS when it comes out of my Jackson, you're welcome to it, just pay for the postage you poor soul !
    PM if you're actually serious.

Oh and the R3 locking nut the special comes with it is dia-frigging-bolical quality. Schaller replacement was £19.99 and is worlds better.

Oh and the posts with the special are made of chocolate.
Replacement Schallers £19.99 - Gotoh will come with Locking Gotoh Posts.

Pretty good year for me in terms of GAS! Aiming to have a quieter 2017, though will probably go through a few  more pedals, followed by a Rickenbacker in 2018.

    Pretty low key.

    Out:
    PRS DGT

    In:
    lighter PRS DGT
    TC Electronic Flashback Delay
    Mono Vertigo Gig Bag
    Harley Benton Powerplant Junior

Swapping DGTs may look neutral but it's made a difference.  The old one tended to get neglected because I didn't want my most comfortable instrument to be one I wouldn't take to a gig or rehearsal for weight reasons.  The new one is my current number 1.

The HB and TC is to give me the option of taking a simple delay - I was bringing an M9 to gigs and only using it for a couple of delay settings because I have pedals I prefer for dirt.

Edit: not a gear purchase as such, but refretting my Suhr Classic with 6000s was like buying a new guitar.

Bit of a change gear wise for me, sold a couple of bits to help with a house deposit, but got much more into partscasters / kits. I don't get to play as much these days, but love tinkering with them in between :)

    In:
Custom Flying V (had the kit for a while, completed this year)
    79'ish Superstrat (GSP special)
Sire Marcus Miller 5 string bass

    In progress:
GSP JM kit - off for paint next year
GSP custom maple / walnut capped tele with solid R/W neck - hoping to complete before the years out

    Out:
    Sire 5 string - great bass, I can't play 5 string
    CIJ JM
    Les Paul Standard
    PRS Stripped 58 Goldtop

Not counting the Hello Kitty Strat I bought for my daughter :D

  • I've been pretty bad this year.

    Permanent acquisitions:

    MXR Micro Flanger
    Digitech Polara
    A DI Box
    DOD 201
    Peavey Studio Pro
    Boss DD7
    Tap Tempo switch
    Hardwire CM2
    Wooly Mammoth Clone
    EHX Bass Soul Food

Although to be fair I did sell some stuff too. Plus a net spend of less than £500 on a hobby over a year isn't too painful.

  • I just remembered that I built myself a couple of pedals this year: a V2 violet Big Muff clone and a MuTron Phasor II clone. Both are staying.
It's very rare I part with gear these days!
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.

At the beginning of the year I bought my PRS CE24 used from 2002. Nearly a year on & one refret later...we've yet to bond.

On on the other hand my Fender Richie Kotzen Strat purchased in June has pretty much become my number 1 guitar. It's well made & sounds great. Also despite the traditional Strat Trem. I've had no tuning issues live.

In terms of pedals it's been back to the future for me as I've just bought things that I once owned. Namely a mk 1 Marshall Guv'nor & a Sansamp Tri AC.

Sadly the only guitars than made it out the door this year were from theft. Namely my PRS Custom 22, retrofitted with Dunlop 6100 Fretwire & my Sigma OM28CRE electro.

Whats next on my list. Possibly a semi. I've just moved to Nottingham & unfortunately had to quit my most recent band due to time issues. But I keep thinking about a centre block Gretsch...

I've been a ridiculous twat this year with pedals. So stupid, flipping more times than a scared Russian gymnast.

I think I changed my mind about reverb pedals more often than Justin Lee Collins changes the bin-liners in Burger King.

The last gasp of sanity after more drive pedal nonsense was to stop putting stuff on plastic, send back the Riverside, and now waiting for actual pedal sales and Xmas money before buying it back again. Y'know with actual money, not imaginary "free" money. I need to start being sensible with the credit cards.

    Sensible decisions?

Selling my Dr Scientist Cleanness and giving the Elements a 2nd (well third chance), particularly as it can do everything the Cleanness can plus, like, shitloads.

As stated already, giving the Strymon Riverside a chance and not relying on pedal demos, plus planning to pay for it with real money.

    Buying a Fairfield Accountant comp.

Holding on to the Timeline and Space.

Above all, the Roadworm 60s Jazzmaster, 65 DRRI and the Johnny Marr Jaguar have been the best purchases I could've possibly made.

    Lessons?
Get the guitars and amps right and you're 80% there.

You will never know how good a dirt pedal is on a DRRI until you turn the amp UP.

I have great but expensive (and almost manically fickle) taste in reverb and delay.

    Pay in cash.

I'm in love with Fay Milton (the Savages drummer).

Thanks for reading my drivel here, and for the whole year, you're all very patient.
