Yep. And an SG (or two). And a tele (or three)(or four). And a few strats. You need a few guitars with P90s as well.

335 and Tele a fine combo. Most bases covered with those BUT for me, a Les Paul does sound different to an ES. Well worth having at least 10 of each I think.just to be sure.

    ;)

Nah, you only need a 335. Besides, you need long hair to play a Les Paul.

Although, on reflection, Les Paul would not have looked cool with long hair either...

Since when has "need" been a factor? Surely "want" is enough reason?

Steve Jones didn't have long hair with The Sex Pistols and this is the reason you have to have a Les Paul, 335's just don't have that cool factor:

At the moment, and for the last day or two, I have been gassing for an Epiphone Sheraton ii Pro in wine red - no one in the UK seems to have them in stock, but I may have to make enquiries all the same.

That surely is a sufficiently different tone to a Les Paul?

The sheratons are great.  Chunky neck though.

Ibanez AM 50 does the hollow body thing well, and at the right size but the Carvin FG1 covers it all.  I put my PRS away after getting the Carvin.

I love both. No matter whether they sound very similar (I don't think they sound that similar), but they definitely make me feel very different when playing them. Might all be in the mind, but doesn't make it any less real (IMO).

  • and this:

Your opinion of cool is so dated it's in black and white
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
