  • @ICBM missed this as not watching tv, sad news no matter what the nationality.

    George Michael at 53.
After the hoax report of his death earlier this year I was at first sceptical of this latest report but it seems that, sadly, this time it's true.

Your updated list makes it feel like George Michael and Jay Kay are actually dead.

Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Blimey! Thought Rick Parfitt would be it for 2016. You almost start to wonder how many more are going to pass away in the last few days of 2016.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

List updated again!  Away from the computer for a few days and the list is doubled in size.  WTF is going on?

  • Prince Buster passed away in September his year. Probably not very well known but he did the original versions of One Step Beyond, Madness ( both as covered by Madness), Too Hot, Enjoy Yourself ( both as covered by The Specials who also rewrote his Al Capone as Gangsters) and Whine and Grine ( as covered by The Beat as Whine and Grine/ Stand Down Margaret). The Madness song The Prince was about him ( and, just to state what might be obvious by now, they took their name from his song Madness).

This list on the BBC just now - celebrities in general rather than just musicians - is shockingly long…

No, he's the second one in the photo section at the top. It confused me slightly at first too, when it looked like they'd forgotten Fidel Castro in the politics section.
