I wish Gibson would bring out a Clapton cut Explorer, it's the only one I'd consider.

I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Talking of Explorers....Saw a video the other day of Joe Bonamassa playing an early Hamer "Sunburst" (Explorer shape with a flame top). It seems that his guitar tech collects them.

When they first appeared many years ago Hamer would place tiny adverts in the back of International Musician with a picture and not much more. When I first saw the ad my jaw hit the floor and I quickly found out that Chappells Music had one of very few in the UK and next day I got on the train for the 400 mile round trip.
What a let down, and wasted trip.
I was very disappointed with the guitar but it seems that the killer guitars are the ones with a 4 digit serial number.....says Joe.

    Ewwww!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

  • The only thing I'm not wild about on my explorer is how, when sitting down, the top bout is right where my arm would otherwise rest (coming from a strat-superstrat background) - but honestly that is not my cup of tea at all.
