My technique should be ok: putting the guitar on the crossed leg and angling it up gives a setup similar to using a short guitar strap and allows the picking hand shoulder to come down.
My health makes it very difficult to sustain any kind of upright practice on the regular so this would be helpful in terms of adding minutes of practice that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
