Looking for PAF style (i.e vintage output) humbuckers with nickel cover. Prefer a set.

Have a limited budget and am thinking:
Dimarzio: 36th annv, PAF master etc
Seymour Duncan: Pearly gates, seth lover, whole lotta
Gibson: 57 classic, or even 498/500T

Would consider others - let me know what you have!

  • 498 and 500Ts are high(er) output ceramics IIRC?

I think you are right. The guitar is a 90's LP Standard so 498/500T would put it to original spec.

Nope - 500T and 496R would be stock (ceramic magnet models) for a LP Classic or a Flying V /Explorer
Standards had 498T and 490R if I recall correctly which had Alnico 2 magnets

The magnets need to be changed anyway, they sound awful with the stock setting (they balance very badly).

For reference, I'm putting an A4 on the 490R and an UOA5 on the 498T.
