Recommend an amp for me please?

Been looking for something British sounding for a while but haven't found anything that floats my boat yet (or rather, haven't found anything less than £1700 that floats my boat yet) so thought I'd throw it out for a wider audience to chip in with ideas.

Main criteria:
  • Preferably head format but not entirely essential.
  • 50 watts maximum.
  • 2 channels - mild dirt and bit more dirt. Mega gain saturation not really necessary.
  • FX loop preferred.
  • EL34 driven or better still switchable bias to accommodate 6L6 flavour tubes.
  • Obviously all tube.
  • Not overly expensive.
  • Oh yeah, sounds good!
Really liking the Victory V50 but that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay outside my budget.

Throw some at me y'all!

TIA

I'd imagine Jet City amps would be your best bet. Especially as you'd probably get about 8 of them for the £1,700 you mention :)

  • Cornford MK50 II - don't know about the different tubes but other than that it meets your requirements!

That or get yourself a Marshall 2203 reissue and a volume pedal for the loop - no requirement for two channels and you'll save over half your cash too :)

Also consider a Mesa DC5 head- you'll find them for about £500. Can be hard to find though.

    JCM900?

What about the Statesman series from H&K, they any good?

Seen a Boogie Electradyne which seems well liked but that's quite pricey used.

Like the look (read "price") of the Jet City stuff but know very little about them - they use 5881s don't they?
