My name is Phil - I am based at PMT in Birmingham, and do the Guitar and amp repairs now.
Trevor (Buck) and Phil (Gowers) have now both left the shop (3 years and 1 year respectfully) - so I have taken over the whole of the repair department.
I am a guitar technician - not a luthier! There is a big difference.
Work I carry out:
Restrings, Refrets, Set ups, Fret dressing, Trem installations, Pickup installations, custom wiring and other modifications. I do NOT do any finishing (spraying) or full custom work.
On the electronics front, if you have a problem come and see me or call me.
Just for the record too - Joe at 'Guitar Spares and Repairs' in the Jewellrey Quarter in Birmingham is no longer trading. However, I do believe from recent conversations he will be coming back into the business maybe working from home (he is not sure yet).

Thanks for looking.

Really impressed: after a quick chat, Adrian totally got what I wanted...one week later, collected two vastly improved instruments...spot on!
After I'd dropped the guitars off, I became aware that Adrian's 'Heritage' Gold Top just got reviewed in Guitarist mag...bonus!

Right, I need a couple of pickups replacing on my MMJP-6, and (most likely) a rewire.
I'm hoping to buy a couple of Crunch Lab & Liquifires at the Guitar Show next year. It might be a push to get the work done by someone at the show (ahem!!).
So is there anyone in Cheshire/Merseyside I could use?
I could do Manchester at a push

Work done was a new nut, glueing a tiny little hairline crack at the very top of the headstock, and a general setup.
Great guy, great work, true to his word. I've tried 5 of the luthiers/techs in Denmark Street over the last few years, because it's a convenient location to me, and they all disappointed except for Gerald. Definitely recommended!
Been in a crash today on his beloved 1970 Honda motorbike, in town centre picking up strings for a customer, bike probs knackered, he's sore.....
I would recommend this fella every time - check his website !
