Think there was a Mesa Express 1x10 combo on eBay the other day that went for about £500, should have given that a try.
Looking at eBay there is an Egnater Tweaker 40 combo probably a mile or two away from me. Could be a possibility.
Marshall JCM900 2501.

I had also been thinking about a JCM 800 4010.
What would potentially be the better option?
Small, light (14kg), upgraded speaker and can get very loud.
What werw the reliability mods for the dsl 401?
Heatsink on the bridge rectifier which overheats, bias saver resistors across the MV pot to prevent valve failure, and biasing them more sensibly are the big ones, but I also increase the spacing between the back of the chassis and the top of the cabinet, and solder the speaker connections. There's actually not much else that regularly goes wrong with them.

I could possibly deal with the weight but from a practical point the second mv is important.
JVM215c.
Any thoughts on those?

It depends on what you're looking for. They don't sound like the classic old Marshalls (they're not supposed to). It might be prudent to wait a little while until the revamped DSLs are officially announced as it seems the DSL15, which is on your list of possibilities, is being replaced by a new DSL20 with EL34s and an FX loop.
