A classic for me!
"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

Near Dark is the daddy of all vampire films.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.......
I have seen it before but it’s pretty unmemorable so it was like watching a new film. I can look forward to forgetting it and watching it again in a couple more years.
Just goes to show, one mans meat is another mans something or other etc
The original book book is a worthwhile read as well.
The Lady In The Van
Beautifully-observed character drama by Alan Bennett about the old woman who lived in a van on his driveway for fifteen years. Maggie Smith gives an absolute masterclass in subtle acting brilliance - she claims she didn't have to do much since most of the filming was done on site in the van, but that's not really the truth . Duplicating Alan Bennett so he could talk to himself is a clever touch too. British small-scale drama at its best, and quite touching in the end.
9/10
The Brothers Grimm
Matt Damon and Heath Ledger ham it up as the pair of Middles-Ages brothers - although not as much as Jonathan Pryce and Peter Stormare . Terry Gilliam's usual blend of dark imagery and slightly wonky plotting - it's a bit slow to begin with but gets better when it goes into full-on twisted Disney fairytale mode, and the visuals are fantastic.

A Mountain Between Us - more formula stuff in great scenery, again, utterly predicatable, enjoyed it though....
I thought it was quite well done, nice use of archive footage of an event which changed the UK's response to Terrorism 8/10
