To me it seems good for what I use it for, which is killing all the bloody hiss from having the gain maxed on either the brown or lead channels. Keeps the effects hiss down too it appears, as I noticed at high gain, even in bypass my oc-3 raises the noise floor. Noticeable when guitar volume rolled all off or not playing.
Its adjustable, and to me doesnt seem to effect sustained notes. I can leave them to die out enough to hear the amps hiss before it cuts it out. Seems natural enough to me but I dont have experience with noise gates really.
I dont think its on by default if you just switch to the gainy channels, you have to hook up to pc or laptop in the tone studio programme and theres a section for it with the rest of the effects/reverb.
