I wouldn't want to wear one for the same reason I never wear shorts - I have pale skinny hairless little legs. They are much better off covered.
It's not a decision I have to make anyway, because I'm part Welsh, part English, part Irish but not at all Scottish, as far as I know. Although apparently my surname may be a derivation of MacPhail.
Check my pic in the OP and also Bridgehouse's. Just knees if you do it right. I've got peely-wally legs but in a kilt it doesn't matter.

women added trousers to their options en masse in the uk over a hundred years ago. long overdue time for hidebound men to liberate yourselves from that self-imposed 'mens wear' life-sentence!
I wish I could wear one but no Scottish blood in the family. I did wear my wife's pink skirt to a wedding but they didn't want me in the photos.
