With my move back to the UK I've been looking for a second set of monitors to put in the studio that have a different approach to my existing Kii Three's, which are a sealed design with 6 drivers and direct cardioid bass characteristics.
The Kii's are hugely impressive but no speaker is perfect and I've been looking for something to pair with them that has a bit more headroom and a more classic approach to amplification.
After many, many months of auditioning monitors (over 40 sets) I've finally decided on a set of ATC's- the SCM45A Pro's.
They are a hugely impressive spec- class AB, 2x 6.5" bass drivers, 3" soft dome midrange driver and 1" S-spec tweeter.
Unlike the Kii Three's these have no DSP, no digital input, no clever digital interfacing.
They are big, heavy (80lbs each) and just a power connection and an XLR input.
Crossovers are at 380hz and 3.5khz and go down to 45hz.
They are hugely loud too- 112db continuous at 1m.
Delivery time is 6 weeks, which is when I take my studio back- they are being custom built for me.
They will sit outside the Kii's in the mix position and function as midfields.
Very, very excited.

KH120's are very nice- budget for a sub with them though.

You planning to soffit mount them? Otherwise some seriously heavy duty stands.
Yeah, more headroom than the Kii’s.
