It's certainly different..........
Looks like someone from "Mabel's pop up artisan emporium of vintage tat" has given it the good news with some watered down Farrow & Ball.

The fungus thing is an interesting talking point, but if you remove the back story you're just left with cheap looking, knotty wood and a weird finish.
I like it on the tele but not so much the others.
Fender are charging a premium for wood treated by Rentokil.
And I bet it comes off and stains your hands.
They should be ashamed of themselves and exposed for the frauds they are.

Why is only blue around the edges like a perfect sunburst pattern?
I call shenanigans. A guitar designed for hipsters.
Cheap wood innit!
It reminds me of my friend's one who have paid a sign writer to emblazon the back wall with.......wait for it.........

Think I like the Strat & Tele best, there's not enough grain or grey colour on the JM.
I also get the jokes about kitchen cupboards etc, but for the most part I still like it. I think they'd be better if the pressure treatment/fungus stain covered the whole thing, or they were just silvery grey & definitely matt, not gloss.
I looked up the wood & there are some great looking examples of it on PIN(E)terest Mostly made into floors or kitchens of course, but maple, mahogany & ash mostly get made into furniture so that's OK.
If you think about most brown mahogany Gibsons, you could say they look like an old sideboard, or expensive dining table (though some of those would use the figured stuff). It's fine.
