Switch from neck to bridge, natch.

Archer Ikon set for mainly a clean boost after a Friedman BE-OD, huge volume lift and that 'clean-but-dirty' bonamassa type sustaining lead.

LPB1 or micro amp in the fx loop. If I want more gain then a TS in front as well for mids and compression.

Turn the volume from 7ish to 9½ -10. Maybe fatten things up a touch with a fairly transparent overdrive (J Rockett Blue Note in my case).
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

  • Volume pedal, I usually drop my plectrum if I reach out for a knob.

On the clean side of the amp, usually set to a crunch-if-you-really-dig-in gain level, either guitar vol or SD-1. If I need more I have an EQ in the loop.

On the drive side of the amp, EQ for volume boost and SD-1 to hit the amp a bit harder if I’m feeling pinch-harmonic fruity.

My clean and drive channels are set for the same volume.

Sounds a lot more confusing than it is, and is incredibly flexible.

Depends on the guitar and sound I'm after. KOT, Sidecar or most often, volume and/or tone pot.

Exactly! I use one one or more of:
    1. Turning my guitar up
    2. Switching pickups.
    3. Mid boost.
    4. Drive pedal. Don’t ask, it’s a Fractal model of something or other.
    5. Changing amp settings
    6. Changing amp model

I might also turn up the reverb and/or add delay.

    Mute pedal by mistake.
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

  • Wow interesting replies here!

So for those of you who'd favour running into a clean channel of the amp, do you think this drives it harder with a pedal? Me I've always preferred amp distortion then boosting. I do have an SD-1 which acts as a nice boost.

  • If I've been asked to play a solo...I step on the tuner so nobody can hear the inevitable car crash .

Caveated  by me not actually gigging ... I've found a new love in the form of my neglected DS1 (Keeley Seeing Eye Mod, I think).

I've gone all "proggy", so I'm after the saturated high-gain. It sounds crap for rhythm, but top dollar for the widdley lead sounds. Seems to take the nice "chuggy" sound I have from the Mesa to just the right place. First time I've ever really liked a sound out of the thing ...
