New Fender Japan Modern Strat

These look pretty tasty, almost a bit Suhr Pete Thorn-ish.

Edit:
Locking tuners,
Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard
Alder body
2 X Tone knobs and one for each pickup (? wiring)
9-14 compound radius, C-D shape
3-way switching
2 Point Deluxe Synchronised Trem
Neck and body contours

Obviously, they need to be tried and heard, but based on the look and for starters, I do like the black model in particular.

EDIT: The Peach page is live so the black Strat has gone/sold.
There's a white and Mystic Ice blue one and a black Tele there but if not showing, you know why and just take a look at the Fender site

How are the Harley Benton's rated? As they are, are they any good or are they being seen as a good base to mod?

No idea, but £266 for a guitar with Stainless Steel frets looks like very good value indeed.

Never liked the look of Strat jack plugs.I think they look bad enough on a normal Strat but completely wrong on a non pickguard guitar

If they had the controls a bit more out of the way I'd probably be interested in something like this. Just can't stand how cramped a normal strat layout feels! I really just want a 22 fret HH version of the Charvel DK24

I had that exact model for a couple of months. There's nothing to mod in my opinion. I even liked the pickups which I wasn't expecting. The ebony board had some staining which I wouldn't have expected on a guitar costing £1000 but on a £266 I was okay with it. That's it. If I was to buy a HB Fusion again I'd buy a roasted maple neck one, though.

Not my thing but they look nice. They remind me of the old Showmaster series from ~20 years ago, only (I assume) flat-topped.

Interested to try one but EBMMs are the brand that really interest me at the moment.

These aren't new, but they're new to the UK, via Peach. And I'm very thankful for that. I've been watching these guitars for about 18 months now, since they were announced in very early 2019 for Japan markets only and that's where they've stayed until then.

The extortionate exchange rate, ridiculous P&P costs and huge import duties to get one to the UK has put me off. (I think that when you consider all of this, Peach's price is astonishingly low).

When Peach announced they had a batch yesterday I was delighted and promptly pre-ordered the black MiJ Modern Telecaster. Which looks incredible, IMO. They're not meant to be your traditional take on the guitar, they're a modern and different view on a classic design and I love it...and the Strat too.

Fortunately, I wanted the Tele in black and that's what they have incoming.

The colours on these for both Strat, Tele and Jazzmaster (which Peach aren't stocking) are, black, white, ice blue metallic, sunset orange, olive metallic and a deep ocean metallic (darker blue). But Peach have yet to show the full range, and likely won't.

Looks like Anderton's are going to be stocking them too. I'm very pleased that they've finally hit our shores and am excited to get my Modern Telecaster. I'll let you know how it feels, plays and sounds when I get it, because the jury's still out on that! The demo's sound pretty bad, but up to now, we've only had Japanese language video's, and the tones they're dialling in don't sound great.

I'm not sure how it can be a take on anything other than a Fender design. Others, including Suhr, are variation of the original Fender design anyway. Fender Aerodyne instruments with binding have been around for years, this is the next logical iteration of that design, if anything, only thing different, really, is the lack of scratchplate. These look class, IMO and have been a long time coming.

I'm not a massive fan of signature guitars, so see this as a nice alternative to the lovely Pete Thorne guitar.
