It would be nice to over perform for once in a competition rather than under perform. At least with Southgate we seem to have a united England team. In the past there have been rumoured big club divides within, especially in the John Terry era.

There were divides within the same club in the John Terry era after what he did with Wayne Bridge's missus.

    I’d like to see
    Kane Sterling
    Rashford Grealish Foden
    Rice
And any 4 defenders and a goalie
and Go out and score more goals than the other side
I like that! Well, except for Sterling - never been much of a fan to be honest.

Close - Mount has to play  - I'd change it to

         Rashford  Kane

     Foden Grealish Mount

                  Rice

For years England have always had great players individually for clubs but when it came to the international stage they couldn't gel as a team. Players being shoehorned into positions they're not used to for clubs, remember when Scholes would play on the left to try and accommodate Gerrard - Lampard? Lots of promise for other players who didn't transfer club form to the national team. Lack of game management to see out games was a problem too, so when 1-0 up with 5 mins to go going all out to try and attack isn't the wisest idea.

But there are signs of this current crop starting to come together. Foden is great for Man City and can do well for England. Other attacking talent such a Mount, Grealish and co could become greats. The tactial nous is needed against the top quality sides off the ball - too often the focus is what they can do with it.

Perhaps Southgate ought to go and speak to the British Lions coaches who have to do this every 4 years

Not sure what benefit England got from playing a team like San Marino last night. Winning 10 - 0 without breaking into a sweat is little benefit to the team or it’s management.

Biggest England win since 1964 so I guess it was nice to be part of a team doing that. But, yes, not a great match.

It was a game they had to at least draw to guarantee coming  top of the group.

What do you think they should have done?

You have to play the opposition in front of you.

Qualifying for the World Cup is rather important.

The point of a qualifying tournament isn't all about the big teams with their rampant egos, enormous paychecks and irritation at facing small fry, it's about inclusivity and letting people represent their Nation on the World stage. I bet some of those players are buzzing that they go to pull on a National shirt and face England and our 'star' players - England are well known and popular around the world due to the success of our Prem league.
