On first listen, it's OK.... I went off Megadeth a lot after Marty Friedman left, so I'm more cautious about anything they release now.

I was never so keen on the faster tracks, although to be fair this track has lots of different elements. I definitely want to hear the new album, which is more than I'd say of some of the recent ones.

Strangely violent video. We won't be seeing that on Top of the Pops.

Is this Dave back to his snarling best, with a great guitar player alongside him again? Yes.

Saw them live at Download. I'm not the biggest Megadeth fan in the world but they've definitely still got it, they sounded huge and a very tight live band.

That's actually my favourite as well (closely followed by The System Has Failed, Countdown and Rust in Peace). I don't like much pre 1990 Megadeth (and I'm a big 80s thrash fan).

I like the whole Marty Friedman period - including Cryptic Writings and even Risk. They moved away from that melodic style, which is guess is what the "old skool fans" want. I haven't enjoyed the last few albums.

But yes, I think I'd agree on Youthanasia. Countdown to Extinction runs it very close. I like that Max Norman production - or at least I think I do, I don't know anything about record production, really.
