Tanlines

What's Hot

As we all get ready to display our “beach bodies” to the unsuspecting world I thought I’d take the opportunity to show mine off  x_x

Perhaps foolishly I took the pickguard off my new Furch. As expected a bit of a tanline. I’m sure it will fade in time but I thought it would be interesting to see how it evolves?

This was taken today

My word that is a lovely guitar.

Paul (who made two of my guitars and sets up the other ones) says that it never fades. It slowly becomes less noticeable but it never goes away.

If you are going to go all 1970s and have tan lines, then you need a nice hairy bush to go with them.

    (Just saying.)

If it bothers you, you can get rid of it with a UV lamp.

As it’s sunny outside I’m planning to put factor 50 on the dark bit and leave it in the garden all day.

@sir_strumalot it bothers me less than the pickguard so I’ll let it age naturally.

@Tannin I know it may never catch up but from what I can gather it was originally bought in December last year and then sold back to The Fellowship of Acoustics who I bought it from. I can’t see any sides of play so best case is it’s lived in its case most of its life, worse case the “bikini” has 6 months or so to catch up. Regarding putting a shrub on it are there any particular plants you would recommend?

When you look at the guitar as it is right now it looks a bit like it has a clear scratchplate on it.

Did you mean the sort of lamp used to cure resin or something more like a sunbed?

I'd have left it on,or maybe got a lighter scratchplate to replace.

For obvious reasons I don't think that @Tannin should be able to comment on this subject...  ;)

The former I think (the blue one). If you search AGF for ' Eastman pick guard tan line' there's a thread about it.

Don't know if it's wishful thinking on my part but I left it on a stand in the sun yesterday and there seems to be less contrast?

Why has the rosette developed a black area about 3 o'clock in the second picture. Is it a sound hole tuner or something else?

    Ian

Lowering my expectations has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

I think it's meant to be a plant and is probably a nod to @Tannin's comment in the second post about a hairy bush, which I assume is a type of Australian shrub.
